35th Annual DC Antique Photo Show

Besides its regular focus on historic military and other photographic images,
the 35th Annual D.C. Antique Photo, Postcard and Camera Shows, Sunday, March 11, at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn, 1900 N. Ft .Myer Dr.; will offer a Victorian-themed contemporary fashion show for both customer and exhibitor enjoyment.

The fashion show festivities will be presented along with the three shows by Photographer and Jeweler from Costa Rica Maria Lang, who will be presenting her new line of unique earrings made from some of her photos. She will also bring some models dressed in Victorian-inspired outfits created by designer Stella Bonds. Both Lang and Bonds belong to Photohispana Group, enthusiastic photographers, models, and other artists who gather on Sundays to do fashion photoshoots while networking and building portfolios.
Additionally, both customers and exhibitors are invited to bring historic military and other photographic images either to be scanned for future inclusion in Military Images Magazine or appraised for possible future auction consignments at Cowan's Auctions.
The magazine invitation was extended by Editor & Publisher Ronald S. Coddington, an Arlington resident who purchased the established quarterly in 2013. The appraisal invitation was made by Auctioneer Wes Cowan, also an appraiser on PBS's "Antiques Roadshow."

Documenting the photographic history of the U.S. Soldier and Sailor, Coddington said the magazine "is particularly looking for Civil War images. But our previous focus has included the period through WW1 and so we're interested in military images from the next 50 or so years as well."

Cowan, who previously exhibited at the show several years ago as well as in 2015, said that along with military images the company is also interested in a wider range of historic photography. As examples, he wrote "Cowan's Auctions will be displaying early photographs, including cased images, CDVs, cabinet cards, stereoviews and large format photographs that will be offered in upcoming 2018 auctions." U.S. History Expert Katie Horstman will be representing the Ohio auction house for the third straight year.

The DC Antique Photo, Postcard and Camera Shows open at 8:30 AM with a $10 public admission. However, there is $35 preview admission for the photo show until 10 AM. After 1p.m. students with ID will be admitted free. The hotel is walking distance from Georgetown and only one block from the Rosslyn station on Metro's orange, blue and silver lines. Parking is free.

The 35-year old photo show is in its tenth year of management by Diverse Markets Management (DMM), a D.C. company. The related postcard show was added in 2012 with the camera show debuting this year.
